"I think that perspective is important. I agree. Sometimes I
guess one can get stuck in a certain space. That wouldn't make any
difference to get stuck. Moving forward is what matters."

She had a question that had been burning inside. All Kate wanted to
know was how the two of them would move forward. She wanted them to
move forward together and she most definitely wanted to make sure her
ambition would not be the reason their relationship would fall apart.
Not that she would not take responsibility if her career was the
downfall, but she did not want to be the sole reason they fell apart
if they did.

Bruce was usually pretty up front with his thoughts and emotions, but
Kate could not help but think he was holding something back from her.

"Are you happy?" She figured that it would make sense to
just throw the question out there. It could not hurt to just be
upfront with one another.

"Why would you ask me a question like that?"

Kate leaned up so that she and Bruce could look each other in the
eye. "Just a little check in. I mean, just to make sure we are
going in the right direction."

"I guess that can't hurt." Bruce stroked her hair. "I
am happy. Now I will ask you the same."

"I am happy. Very much so."

"Good. Looks like we are on the same page."

"But is happiness enough? I mean, does happiness get you through
the hard times?"

"You are extremely inquisitive today."

"Inquisitive? You make me sound like a small child." Kate
tried to hide the fact that she was irritated with his remark.

"Aww, I'm sorry, Sweetheart. That was not my intent. I just
meant that you were asking me a lot of questions I thought you knew
the answer to."

"It's just nice to be on the same page. That's all."

Bruce took her face in his hands. "We are on the same page. We
are happy. Everything is fine. Does that make you feel better?"

A smile came across her face. "Yes. Much better. One more thing
though."

"Yes, my love."

"I feel like you have something you want to talk to me about.
You know you can tell me anything, right?"

"I do know that I can tell you anything. And if I had something
to tell you, I would. Right now, I just want to hold the woman of my
dreams in my arms and relax before she has to get up and at it for
the rest of the day."

"Good news. I checked my schedule and I am free and clear. We
need to make sure we are packed tonight and ready to go in the
morning."

"Free and clear? Hmm."

"I see the light bulb going off. What are you thinking?"

"It's a surprise. Why don’t you get dressed?"

Kate jumped up out of the bed. She was wearing a midnight blue lace
lingerie top and matching thong.

"On second thought, why don't you come back to bed?"

Bruce reached up and grabbed her by the waist.

"I said come back to bed."

The tone is his voice was dripping with desire. When he kissed her,
she knew how much he wanted her. His body pressed against hers let
her know even more when she felt his penis lengthening.

All of the foreplay was interrupted by the muffled sound of Kate's
cell phone chiming.

"Don't get that. Leave it where it is," Bruce commanded.

"Ignore it. It's just a text. We have some time."

The phone was silent, then started ringing. Kate tried her best to
not pay attention to the sound, but the continued ringing just made
her more tense.

"Let me just turn off the ringer so we can concentrate on each
other."

"Make it quick." Bruce's response was a low growl.

She fished around in the bed until she found her phone. As soon as
she picked it up, it started ringing again. Looking at who it was,
Kate instantly felt stuck between a rock and a hard place.

She closed her eyes, wishing she was not in the situation she was in
right that moment. On one hand, the man she loved lay there in wait
for her to join him. On the other hand, work was calling. It was the
story of her life. The constant need to choose.

"Hello?"

She knew when she answered she should have possibly waited to do so.
But the phone was ringing, duty called, and opportunity was on the
other end of the line.

"Yes, Amelia. Let her know that I will be out there an hour
earlier for her. No problem."

She clicked to end her phone call, not wanting to look at Bruce. When
she did finally look at him, he was shaking his head.

Reclining, he folded his hands behind his head. The way he was laying
there made her want him even more as his muscles bulged and rippled.

"Feel free to go. I don't want you to feel guilty about your
choice."

Kate tossed the phone to the side.

"I don't feel guilty at all about my choice."

She crawled over top of him where he lay. "I think my man needs
a bit of attention. I need to give him what he wants."

"And how do you know what it is that he wants?" When he
asked her the question, his eye brow raised, Kate could not tell if
he was being serious or if he was truly joking.

She began to plant kisses on his chest, raising her hands to hold his
while she climbed higher and higher. Her kisses were feverish, showed
longing.

"I try to listen to what he says. I'm pretty stubborn, but I
hear everything he tells me."

When Bruce bit his lip, it just made her want him even more. There
was no way she could leave without giving him exactly what he wanted.

On her knees, she set out to please her man. Tenderly, she took his
penis in her hands. He was not completely hard yet, but she knew just
what to do to get him there. Her hands slid up and down his shaft as
it grew, elongating to the state in which she liked it best.

Bruce's moans turned her on, and the louder he became, the more she
felt herself growing moist. The muscles of her vagina began to
tighten and contract in anticipation of what was next.

When he was fully at attention, she went for exactly what she wanted
and what she knew he would like.

Bruce slid her panties to the side and entered her. His hips raised,
making sure he penetrated her fully. She gritted her teeth as he
began a motion that brought her the utmost pleasure. Each time he
moved his hips, she moved hers in a grinding motion. He held her
hips, making sure she stayed where he wanted her.

Grinding her hips allowed his body to touch her in all of the right
places. Not only did she feel him inside of her, pressing on her G
spot, but his motion also ignited her passion through her clitoris.

Moans of pleasure filled the room. Their bodies hungered after one
another. So easily, they slipped in to their song and dance. The push
and pull of their emotions, entangling each other in their webs. Kate
bucked her hips like a wild woman, wanting more. She could not hold
back what she was feeling.

They shared I love you's and tender caresses. Bruce held his siren,
making sweet love to her and giving her all she needed to calm the
aching in her soul.

Just when Kate thought she was completely satisfied, Bruce came back
with more. It was as if he was trying to fill her up and make it so
she did not think twice when it came to him or work.

Kate took everything he offered, and gave the same in return. He had
a way of holding her steady, to make sure she felt each and every
inch of him inside of her. He whispered in her ear, telling her it
was alright to release, letting her know she could cum at any time.
He worked her body over, making sure she would find the most immense
pleasure. The spasms were washing over her and she did not hold back.

When the orgasm rippled forth, her body exploded, leaving her
satisfied all the way down to the tips of her toes. She felt Bruce's
body stiffen and then the pulsating in his cock let her know that he
was ready to release. When he did, they both collapsed in each
other's arms.

She lay on his chest as it heaved up and down, both of their skin
glistening with sweat, sticky and moist from their love making.

"You are sensational, my love."

Kate smiled, snuggled in Bruce's arms. "I really don't want to
get up and leave you."

He ran his hands through her hair, brushing it off of her forehead.
"You, my dear, have to work. I understand. Go and do what you
love, Sweetheart."

Kate gave him a questioning glance.

"Really, my love. It's alright. I know how important all of this
is to you. I support you in all that you do with your career. But
it's also nice to have my woman's full attention. Especially here in
France."

A kiss sealed their love, making it harder for Kate to get out of
bed. She groaned at the thought of having to roll out of bed and
leave Bruce there alone for the afternoon.

"Any plans while I'm gone for the day?"

"None, my love. I'm waiting for you to return to me."

Kate found the strength to roll of out bed. "I'm going to hop in
the shower, dress and leave. The car will be here for me in about
thirty minutes. I will make sure I am finished by five. Why don't you
meet me in the city?"

Bruce sat up. "Hey, I'm the man in this relationship. Why don't
you step back and let me plan our evening?"

Kate threw her hands up in surrender. "Noted. I will leave it up
to you."

She kissed him goodbye and left. She was giddy with excitement about
what Bruce would have set for them that evening. The feeling now
reminded her of what it was like when she first started dating Bruce.

He would call on her, never telling her where they were going. She
loved the element of surprise and he never skipped a beat. Bruce knew
how to tug at her heart strings by saying and doing all of the right
things. He was not a man of many words, so his passion came out in
the bedroom and in the boardroom.

Bruce loved his whiskey, his boots, his truck, and
his woman, not necessarily in that order. Kate loved his masculinity.
She loved the fact that he was her protector, and he did whatever he
could to make her happy. He was also her compass for right and wrong,
and creating balance in her life. She admired his wisdom. He had a
way of dispensing it without coming across like he was preaching or
saying
I told you so
.

For her, meeting Bruce was practice in the adage, don't judge a book
by the cover. He was immediately attractive, but nothing in her said
that as a twenty something black woman, she would fall for a
fortyish, graying, white man who had an affinity for cowboy boots and
big trucks. But they meshed and they got along so well. Being with
Bruce was the most natural thing in the world. Not only were they
lovers, but the basis for their relationship was a great friendship
that formed.

Kate was not sure where their relationship was going. At twenty
seven, she had not quite resounded within herself with the thought of
marriage. Marriage seemed so secure, so definite, so settled. It
seemed like all of the things she was not. Besides, how would she be
able to be a wife to Bruce? He deserved so much more than she felt
she was able to give.

She was definitely not the type of woman who was going to have a hot
meal on the table every night. She still had an air of selfishness
about her. It was something that was slowly changing while dating
Bruce. This was the first time she had to learn to think of someone
else besides herself and she was learning one day at a time how to
put someone else first at times instead of her own needs.

Their relationship was starting to feel more serious and she was not
sure what the next step would be. With Bruce in her life, she knew
she wanted him in her life and she would do whatever it took to have
him there. Even if that meant spending a little extra time in bed
before racing to the office.

*****

"Well, this is our last day in Paris. How was your trip?"

"Fancy, let me say that this has been the perfect opportunity
for me and my career. I'm so thankful you chose me to work with."

Kate zipped Fancy's shirt, which had a closure in the back.

"Okay, now. Let me see."

Fancy did a twirl. "What do you think?"

"I think you look sensational. How do you feel?"

Kate's client had not stopped looking at herself in the mirror.

"I swear, you have a knack for finding just the right outfit
each and every time. I love this designer. Who is it again?"

"Tobias. He's an up and coming designer from L.A. I love the
feminine cut to all of his pieces. He really knows a woman's body."

"And I love the fact that he has a great sense of color. I hate
just wearing black all of the time. This is perfect! Thank you,"
Fancy gushed.

She hugged Kate. "Now, what about Prince Charming that came with
you. I know you have been working most of the time while here. Did
you make some time for him?"

"I tried. As best I could. Truth be told, I had my focus on
coming here to work. At the last minute, he surprised me and had a
ticket to come along with me."

"That's amazing! Why don't you seem excited by that?"

"Coming to Paris was on my bucket list for two reasons. To work
it in the fashion world and to experience it with the man that I
love. The way I envisioned it, the trip was supposed to be something
that the two of us did together with the romance and everything, you
know? Not him coming with me while I was more focused on work."

Once Kate confessed that thought, it felt like a huge weight lifted
off her chest.

Fancy touched up her makeup in the mirror as she spoke. "Life is
like that, you know. Sometimes we don't get to experience it the way
we envisioned, but we get the experience and we have to appreciate
that and do the best we can with it. And in the end, that's all that
matters. Right?"

Kate thought about what it was that Fancy was truly saying. "I
guess you're right. I never thought about it that way."
