Those
words were the last things the old man heard as reality warped around him, erasing years of mistakes.  He hoped the new him appreciated it.  As the change Patton had made to his own history caught up to him, he faded entirely out of reality.

Scottie stood
silently, staring at the empty armchair.  He rubbed a finger over the strange device strapped to his wrist and wondered why the old man smiled as he disappeared.

He sho
ok his head, dismissing the question.  He knew one thing: With the powers the old man gave him, he could finally graduate from street-level jobs to getting some real respect.  This was serious.  He needed to be serious, too.  Time to drop the nickname.

“Scott
, just Scott.  Yeah.”  He said, feeling out the next words in his mouth before he spoke again.  “Scott Patton, supervillain.”
