He was inside her. A part of her. Locked forever in her heart. She’d never be able to rid herself of him now, even if she wanted to.

He stopped his thrusts and gently pushed her thighs out and back until her legs were folded in on her. She gasped and grabbed his forearms. “Mac!”

“I want to look.” He withdrew almost completely from her, then slowly sank back in. “We look so good together, Natalie.” Their moans mingled together. Out and then in. Out and in. He repeated several thrusts with the same slow drag, gritting his teeth against the pleasure threatening to make his head explode.

Her nails dug into her arms just before she fell back. Her legs quivered. He moved harder. Tore his eyes away from their joined bodies to watch her face. With a high cry, she came again. His thrusts grew faster and faster until he was pounding into her.

With a rough bark of passion, he emptied himself into her slick warmth.

His breath bellowed in and out of his chest, and he lowered his forehead on hers. All he could think was…Natalie. She was his.

He felt reborn. Saved. The sins and regrets of the past shattered.

He tightened his arms around her and pulled out, amazed he was still hard. But he ignored his body’s hunger for more and sank into her, letting out a shaky sigh when she threaded her fingers through his hair. Drowsily, he closed his eyes.

“I love you so much. I want to stay here forever,” he whispered. “I’ve never wanted anyone more than I want you.”

Her hand stilled. “I know exactly how you feel.”

They kissed, their mouths mating with a gentle thoroughness that filled him with contentment. His eyelids grew heavy. He felt something shift inside him, clicking into place as if all these years a piece of him had been broken, and he hadn’t even known it.

Natalie fixed it. With her strength. With her gentleness. With her unwavering goodness.

She made him strong enough to do anything.

She made him brave enough to turn away from fear and death and simply…love.
