It took me almost an hour to fight those
friggin dogs off without killing them. It was like battling with
one eye close, a hand tied behind your back, and hopping on one
foot, but I managed to do it. I fought off no less than two dozen
of the dogs without killing a single one. Turns out the shewolf had
found her mate just that night, and he wasn’t willing to share. Oh
well, there would be others. In fact with the new knowledge that I
have learned just this day, perhaps I can even have another
beloved. I heard my daughter hollering into the phone trying to get
my attention

“Dad, are you there? I am going to hang up if
you don’t answer me.” I gave myself a mental shake and spoke into
the phone

“Sorry Ena, I was reflecting. Now where was
I? Oh yes, the hybrid also has a true wolf mate. Just yesterday her
wolf mate was severely injured in a fight and should have died. I
think I might have actually saved him though. After hearing how the
mother survived with vampire blood I thought it might be
interesting to see what would happen if I introduced vampire blood
to the sick wolf mate. I figured it would heal or kill him, anyhow
it looks like he’s healing.”

I went on to tell Ena about how the hybrids
mate is an alpha. That he’s one of three brothers that are all
alphas and how they now all have their own packs. Then, just as I
went to tell her how the two other alpha’s showed up last night
looking for a fight with their entire packs following behind them
she cut me off.

“Dad, I can tell that you have stumbled onto
something that is going to keep you good and busy. I am very happy
for you. Enjoy yourself. Call me in a few years when you have
learned everything. Maybe you should take notes and turn this into
a teen novel. Gotta go, Love you”

Then my sweet Ena hung up on me. I looked at
the cell to make sure that she was really gone, then sighed and
looked around the room again.

Chapter 34
(Nikoli’s POV)

I didn’t need to stay in the room to hear my
beloved pour her heart out to her wolf mate. I knew exactly how she
was feeling. My side of the blood bond worked just fine. I
experience every single emotion Kalli experiences. I knew exactly
how she felt the moment she felt it. I quickly made my way
downstairs with Kenyan following closely behind me.

Kenyon pointed a finger towards the front
door just milliseconds before Marie’s wolf form knocked down the
front door and barreled into my living room. I pointed towards the
steps and her wolf likely used its nose to figure out the rest.

I looked over at Kenyon and realized he had a
small amused smile on his face. I sighed and crossed my hands over
my chest. I could tell it was going to be a long night. I walked
over to the door and pushed it back into place. The hinges were
completely shot so the best I could hope for was that it stayed up
until morning and I could tell Ted my repair man to fix it.

I turned to sit back down when the door flew
out of the frame and slammed into me. I pushed the door off and
found myself staring at four new wolves. They were less than six
feet away from me and had already taken a fighting stance, their
lips were pealed back showing their long canine teeth, the hair on
their backs and necks stood up on end and their ears were tucked
flat back against their heads. These wolves wanted to look like
they meant business.

I put my hands up in front of me trying to
figure out how I could buy some time to talk before fighting. I had
a feeling they were here because of either Kalli or Lucas and I
didn’t want to make things more difficult. Not to mention, these
wolves really didn’t have a chance against me alone none the less
Kenyan who is an ancient. They would likely be dead before they
managed to bite either one of us.

I open my mouth with the intention of begging
Kenyan not to kill any of them when I watched his face light up
like a kid in a candy store then he actually started to laugh at
the top of his lungs while pointing towards the four wolves.

I wasn’t sure what to expect next but what
happened wasn’t even on the list. Kenyon said while still pointing
at the dogs in a demanding voice

“Sit” and low and behold the wolves dropped
to a sitting position. He then said

“Roll over” and turned his hand in the air,
and again the wolves obeyed and just like that they rolled
over.

He was about to give another command when the
crap really hit the fan so to speak. Instead of four growling
wolves doing cute little dog tricks, we had more than a hundred
wolves pouring into the house dozens at a time. They came through
the windows and doorways. They flooded the house and immediately
attacked.

Kenyan and I were now trying to keep the
wolves at bay. I had shouted to him over their growls that I would
prefer not to kill too many if possible. He gave an amused chuckle
and said he would take that challenge.

We pushed and shoved at the wolves that kept
coming at us in waves. They were so desperate to try and take a
chunk of our flesh out that they occasionally bit themselves. I
threw one off of me and heard something snap. I winced knowing that
I had likely broken the wolves back. I tried again to get the
wolves to listen to me and stop but one managed to get close enough
to sink its teeth into my face. I felt it pull at my jaw bone and
decided I’d had enough.

I shouted toward Kenyan that I was done
playing around we needed to get these wolves to back off. I decided
it was time to be a bit more forceful. I reached out and grabbed
one of the original four wolves that were still stupefied sitting
at my feet. Kenyan reached down and grabbed one as well. We had
them in our hands and were ready to snap their necks when Kalli and
Marie came barreling down the steps screaming for us to stop.

The wolves stopped too. Initially I was
surprised the wolves had listened to Marie and Kalli, and then we
realized it had nothing to do with them. The wolves stopped because
we had their alphas necks in our hands. It’s amazing how you can
get wolves to negotiate when you are holding their alphas neck.

The next several hours had been tenuous but
we eventually came to truce of sorts. In exchange for their alpha’s
back the wolves agreed to wait outside until it was determined if
Lucas would survive or not.

Interestingly enough, Kenyan had decided to
offer all injured wolves some of his blood to see if they too would
heal. Many though not all accepted and the amount of healing was
unbelievable. I watched as the side of a wolf stitched itself
together almost instantaneously. I had to wonder why he was so
freely passing his blood around. It seemed too humane and Kenyan
wasn’t known for being humane.

Once the house cleared out, and the wolves
had settled themselves outside, I walked Kalli upstairs to check on
Lucas. It was amazing how much better he looked already. It was
clear that he was healing at an unbelievable rate. Kalli noticed
how much better the wound looked and excitedly said to me

“Wow, he looks so much better. I was so
worried he was going to die. Please tell Kenyan that I really
appreciate that he saved his life” then she turned away from me and
focused on Lucas.

I couldn’t help but find myself a little
jealous so I somewhat childishly stomped from the bedroom. I was
tired and really had enough of all the company. I was solitary by
nature and was a bit tired of all the company. I decided that I
would visit the west wing, have a bite to eat and a little
distraction before dealing with my company.

The west wing of the house is where my humans
lived. I typically kept six to eight humans in residence when I
stayed in this house. I had the house keeper Jill who kept the
house clean, her husband Ted who repaired the little odds and ends
that broke and six to eight females that I used for feeding and my
other physical needs.

Currently I had only five females available
since Kenyan had killed Olivia earlier today. I really wished
Kenyan wasn’t the elder who responded. Of all the elders he was the
least likely to follow any rules. He had little to no compassion
for humans or wolves.

I looked around the room at my companions and
decided that Rose would do just fine. It had been several weeks
since I’d spent time with Rose, and she looked very happy that I
had chosen her. I held her hand and walked her into the blue
room.

The blue room as I liked to call it was the
room I used when I spent time with my human companions. I had never
wanted to sully my main house with my feeding and physical needs. I
always knew that someday I would meet my beloved and I never wanted
her to question if and where I had spent time with my humans before
her.

There was a part of me that didn’t want to do
anything more than feed from Rose, but another side of me knew my
beast was starting to get the best of me. I actually thought if I
could release some of my tension with Rose that I would be calmer
when dealing with my beloved and her wolf mate.

The moment I finished feeding I realized that
some of the hunger I was experiencing wasn’t my own. I tried to
ignore my beloved emotions and amuse myself with Rose but it wasn’t
working. After only a few minutes, I found myself giving up and
leaving even tenser than I’d been when I brought her to the blue
room.

I went back downstairs and mentioned to
Kenyan that I was having difficulty because my beloved was hungry.
I explained how she had been in a full blood lust just a few days
ago and how her feelings were so strong that I too had actually
gone into a blood lust.

Upon hearing this, Kenyan suggested that we
offer a donor to my beloved to feed on. Remembering how she’d shown
some signs of jealousy before when we talked of my human donors, I
found myself agreeing and grabbing my most attractive
companion.

I just wanted to see some confirmation that
Kalli cared even a little for me. I know it was petty to bring
Layla who was drop dead gorgeous for her to feed on but her
feelings for the wolf were driving me nuts. I know that without the
blood bond she would never be complete with me, but it was hard to
know that my beloved was so close and that she cared nothing for
me. So here I was walking into the room trying to get her to feed
from Layla.

She declined initially saying she didn’t want
to leave the room, then I gestured towards Layla and said that she
could come to her. I watched Kalli’s face closely for any sign of
jealousy as she turned and faced Layla taking in her appearance.
Kalli’s face didn’t even flinch. She looked at her from top to toe
than said in a no nonsense voice that she wouldn’t do.

I turned to grab Layla by the arm and take
her back to the west wing when suddenly Kalli changed her mind. She
beckoned for me to bring Layla closer than sunk her fangs into her
arms. I was prepared to be overwhelmed by Kalli’s feelings. When
nothing came I was somewhat shocked. I started to wonder if the
closer she got to her wolf the farther she got from me.

Then I saw her eyes turning black, and I felt
a burn in the back of my throat. That is when I realized what was
going on. Kenyan was manipulating my beloved. I turned and attacked
him. I knew that he was much stronger than me, but I had more to
fight for. Kalli was my beloved and the blood looked like it was
killing her. I saw blood leaking from her ears, nose and eyes. I
could feel her heart rate slowing and her breath was becoming
shallower. I needed to stop him.

I threw everything I had at him. It must have
worked because I saw Kalli push away from Layla and join me in
attacking Kenyan. We though wave after wave of psychic and physical
attacks at him. I watched in amazement as my beloved tried psionic
inundation against him. It didn’t drop him to the ground but I knew
she hit a sore spot.

I was about to deploy my own brand of
inundation when the friggen wolves had to jump in. There had to be
more than a dozen that burst through the bedroom door yapping and
growling. I watched as a pretty shewolf shifted and stood naked in
front of all of us. She seemed oblivious to what her nakedness was
doing to all the males’ wolves and vampires alike.

Turns out she’s a true omega and was able to
calm everyone down enough to hear reason. Once they realized it was
just us vampires trying to kill each other they headed out of the
house again. I could tell my beloved was wiped out from all the
recent fighting and wanted to get Kenyan away from her so I asked
him to join me downstairs.

He followed me downstairs like everything was
just honky dorey. See that was the problem with vampires and the
reason we chose not to socialize much. We were a nasty self
centered lot, and more than that almost impossible to kill. So no
matter what we did to each other, we argued slammed each other
around a bit then moved on.

Kenyan would not even ask for forgiveness for
what he’d done upstairs, and I knew better than to ask for it. So
rather than fight some more with him I decided it was best to leave
it alone for now. I looked down and noticed Kenyan was carefully
trying to put something into a glass vial. I couldn’t help but ask
him

“Kenyan, what you are up to now?”

He looked at me with both of his eyebrows
raised before saying

“Are you sure her blood is poisonous to us?
Even if it is, you know with time you could become immune? I know
of others who have wolf blood immunity?”

Chapter 35
(Lance’s POV)

I knew my mate had come with Ryan to the
vampire’s house. I smelled her the moment we crossed their path on
the way here. We were no more than a mile behind our alpha, and I
knew he ran into his brother and two female shewolves about two
miles back. One of those shewolves was my mate and she was running
straight towards a very dangerous vampire.
