“Cherie?”
He pronounced my name the right way. Score one for him.

“Hi,”
I said and offered my hand.

He
didn’t hesitate to shake it. “Your mom’s told me a lot about you. I’m so glad
we finally get to meet. I, uh, had hoped I’d get to meet you before you moved
in.” He gave me a self-deprecating grin. “But Serenity said you’d be fine with
it.”

A
million things bubbled to my lips, but I didn’t say any of them. They were all
bitchy. So I smiled back and nodded.

“I’m
sure this is going to be a big deal for you changing schools senior year,
moving somewhere you don’t know anyone. I want you to be as comfortable with
everything as possible, okay?”

I
nodded some more. It really didn’t matter. If it was horrible, I only had to
suck it up for two months.

But
when Drew tossed me the keys to the car, I decided that maybe it wouldn’t be so
horrible after all.
