‘Well he would wouldn’t he Lucy?  It allows
him to sleep with whoever takes his fancy, regardless of morals,’ she mutters
angrily.

The evening takes a nose dive from there and
try as we may there is now an issue between Kate and me.  Moving away from the
bubble of Cameron and our bedroom antics the reality is that I need to shut up
or put up.  I need to inform Sam or call things off with Cameron.

I lay in bed allowing the situation to run
through my muzzy, alcohol fuelled brain, things with Cameron are good we are
enjoying our time together.  What happens when Cameron moves on again, which I
have no doubt he will I am under no delusions.  Will I then be ostracized by
the household another victim of Cameron Lee?

He had text me about eleven, to enquire as
to whether I want picking up, but I ignored the text.  I haven’t slept in my
own bed for two nights and require some perspective on the situation.

Chapter Nine

Sunday morning I wake, shower and jump in
my car to my mum’s.  Maybe if I detach myself from the intensity of the
household and Cameron then I will find an answer.

Maybe I will discuss it with mum, she is
very logical and will encourage me to see things from all angles.  When I
arrive at mum’s I notice another text from Cameron,

Hi, hope you had a good evening.  When
can I see you? C

Once again I ignore the text not knowing
what to do next, I turn off my phone and continue my visit.

After a home cooked meal at mum’s I drive
back home in a much better frame of mind.  I had shared my concerns with mum
and Phil, obviously omitting the sex bit, to gain their opinion.  Mum was
astounded by the way that Sam had been treating me even though she is perfectly
aware that I can give as good as I get.

‘You can always move back home you know,’
Mum had expressed.

‘Mum, that is sweet but I am an adult and
need to make my own way!’

‘There is always a bed here for you, adult
or not!’ she reminds me, ‘if you like this guy then see it out, it isn’t often
you find an attraction to a man.  Don’t let the girls blackmail you into some
false sense of loyalty, you don’t even know this Sam.’

‘From a male point of view Lucy, it sounds
like this guy is into you – it would be silly to throw it all away without
attempting some sort of relationship.’ Phil pipes up.

‘He doesn’t do relationships, that’s the
thing.’ I inform him.

‘Lucy, all men say that what they mean is
they aren’t interested in a relationship with the woman in question.  When the
right one comes along they will fight to keep her in their life,’ he drops a
kiss on my mum’s head and I smile at the flush on my mum’s face.

It is six o clock when I park my car and
enter the house placing my things into my room before moving up into the living
area.

‘Hi,’ I call into the kitchen where Kate
and Sam are standing.

‘Hi,’ Kate sends a warning with her eyes
and I frown before looking at Sam who has obviously been crying.

‘Everything ok?’ I test, not sure whether
to leave or stay.

‘You tell me, Lucy,’ Sam’s voice is like
ice.

‘What do you mean?’ my insides go icy
cold.

‘Well, your boyfriend has been around,’ Sam
mutters.

‘I don’t have a boyfriend, Sam,’ I feel my
face flush, as I observe Kate.  She looks uncomfortable as if she doesn’t know quite
what to do.

‘Your fuck buddy then, whatever you want to
call him.’

I sigh, attempting to calm my rising
temper, ‘ok, we are talking about Cameron, I gather.’

‘So, you don’t deny it?’

‘No! Why would I deny it Sam, it has
nothing to do with you who I spend my time with,’ I utter, dangerously quiet.

‘See,’ she directs her gaze to Kate, ‘there
is no such thing as morals where she comes from.’

‘Sam,’ I warn, ‘we are nothing but
housemates, I have no allegiance to you.’

‘Why don’t you fuck off back to the slums, Lucy,’
her face is contorted with anger.

‘Because I don’t come from the slums, Sam.’
I remind her, my face flushing with anger.

‘Enough!’ Kate interrupts, ‘that’s enough!
Sam you are not dating Cameron, you basically had a one night stand with the
guy.’

‘We were texting, attempting to sort things
out,’ her gaze finds mine.

‘No, he informed you he wasn’t interested
Sam,’ I mutter, ‘you was shagging Scot last week, make your mind up!’

‘So, if it was no big deal why have you
concealed it?’ she snarls.

‘Because it isn’t a big love affair Sam, we
have just seen each other a few times.’

‘Well contrary to your beliefs, he has text
me recently and insinuated that we repeat the experience,’ she smiles suddenly,
reaching for her phone.  She taps on the buttons before exposing a text sent to
her two days ago which reads:

Hi Sam, Thanks for text.

Busy at the moment but will be in touch
soon.

Maybe we can meet up?

C x

I shrug, despite the dread that fills my
insides, ‘so what? I already told you we were just spending time together.’ I
fake insignificance.

‘Well, I will get him back Lucy, rest
assured,’ she spits, storming out of the room.

When she is out of earshot, I slide into
the chair by the table to prevent my legs from wobbling.

‘I am sorry,’ Kate murmurs sitting opposite
me, ‘he turned up enquiring where you were as you hadn’t replied to his text
messages.’

‘I turned my phone off.’

‘Well, Sam thought he was here to see her…’

I close my eyes to erase the memory of the
text, was he keeping Sam on hold until he had finished with me?

‘Oh well, you did warn me,’ I smile in
resignation, ‘I guess this is what you were attempting to prevent.’

‘Well…..’ she regards me gently. ‘He asked
whether you would call him when you return.’

‘Ok,’ I nod, standing and take the stairs
down to my room. I throw myself on the bed, oh well I only have myself to
blame.  I switch on my mobile and watch as the texts appear.

Hi, let me know you got home ok last
night? C

Hi, getting worried on way around. C

No kisses on my texts, Sam had kisses – why
the hell am I analyzing his texts now?  I can do without all this!

Plus there was two missed calls and a voicemail,
Hi Lucy call me please!
In a stern voice at 3.24pm obviously when he
left the house.

I send a text,

As you can imagine things are strained
around here!

Probably best if you leave it for now. L

A short while later the phone rings, but I
send it directly to voicemail before turning it off.

I walk into the office the next day my
spirits low.  I remained in my room after a long bath the previous night, my
mind rewinding the events of the past few weeks…well, I now comprehended the
expression, ‘a roller coaster of emotions,’ that’s for sure.

I played Cameron’s voicemail this morning
and he sounded livid with me, for some reason,

What the hell are you doing Lucy?
Answer the damn phone, enough of this bullshit!

I eat my sandwich at my desk instead of
going to the canteen with Susie, I don’t feel in the mood to rehash the events
of yesterday.  She mails me after lunch,

Hey,

Where were you?  I need to speak to you,

Susie x

I reply,

‘Hi Susie,

Sorry just so busy, speak soon.

Lucy x

I feel weird. When I imagine Cameron at my
house my stomach drops, what was I doing?  I should have expected this, it was
always going to end badly despite our intentions?  No, I need to stay around
men like Matthew…..Cameron is too out of my depth.  Why the hell did he go to
the house we could have prevented all this?  Sam is in her element now playing
the victim, I imagine my name is mud around her friends.

I expect to find Cameron outside my
building later that day.  He is standing leaning onto his car, his face taut
with anger.  My eyes find his and I feel emotional, I should never have started
all this. I should have listened to Sam for an easy life.

‘Hi,’ I mutter up into his gorgeous, blue
eyes.

‘Get in!’ he instructs, observing my teary
eyes.

I contemplate telling him no but imagine we
need to end this appropriately.  I move into the passenger seat and wait for
him to begin.  He drives off without a word except, ‘seatbelt on.’

‘Cameron, stop I need to speak to you for a
moment’ I call tiredly, but he ignores me.  I sigh pulling my hair up into a
ponytail.

‘Leave it down.’

‘No!’ I scowl, ‘stop the bloody car.’

His jaw is tense, why the hell is he mad!

We pull into his drive and I am out before
he manages to walk around, I gaze up at him anger surging through my body,
‘what the hell are we doing here?’ I mutter.

His gaze penetrates mine and I can
literally see the sparks shooting between us, he grabs my hand and all but
drags me into his house.

‘Cameron…’ I am hissing, trotting behind
him.

He turns around as he slams the door and
pushes me against it his lips finding mine in a passion fuelled kiss, his
tongue thrusting inside my mouth.  I cannot breathe only feel as my body
awakens and I am panting against him.  His hand moves my skirt up and locates
my moist sex, his fingers thrusting inside me as I groan.

His mouth is at my ear as he is moaning in
response to my circling of his fingers with my wet core, ‘I want to fuck you
Lucy, every way possible,’ he whispers his words send me spiraling out of
control as I call out his name and come around his thrusting fingers.

‘Yes, that’s it baby,’ he croaks before
undoing his trousers with one hand and releasing his throbbing shaft.  Grabbing
my hips he lifts me and pushes me against the door entering me deeply, ‘oh yes,
god I love the feel of your warm and wet pussy Lucy,’ he moves against me. I am
panting as the fading contractions reappear immediately and I explode around
him throbbing around his hard erection.

‘Cameron,’ I gasp, as he thrusts in and
out.

‘Yes, that’s it and again baby,’ he
whispers as he circles my insides his face flushed with passion as he stills
spilling into me, drawing in and out until he is empty.

I wrap my arms around him as he kisses my
neck our insides settling, ‘Cameron,’ I whisper and he hushes me.  I lean back
to view his face and he kisses me softly my eyes closing as my insides settle.

‘We need to talk,’ I whisper.

‘Not now,’ he insists withdrawing and
lowering me to the ground, ‘come on, let us shower,’ he moves us to the
upstairs bathroom where we strip off and shower together without another word
as we kiss and touch each other.

‘We have to end this, Cameron.’ I mutter
against his mouth as he once again attempts to distract me with his sexpertise.

‘I don’t want to talk shit,’ he mumbles,
‘are you enjoying this, Lucy?’

‘You know I am,’ I pant as he drops to his
knees and thrusts his tongue inside me, leaving me gasping.

‘Then fuck everyone else’ he sucks on my
throbbing clit sending my insides climbing.

It is sometime later that we are laying on
his bed panting against each other.

‘You hungry?’ he asks

‘Hmmm,’ I murmur tiredly, ‘a little.’

‘Come downstairs in ten minutes, I will
cook us an omelet,’ he kisses my rear end as he gets up, pulling on some
tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt.

I wander downstairs in Cameron’s robe my
brain fuzzy from all of the over analyzing I have undertaken during the past
few days.  As I sit at the table, I glance up towards him, he is a fine
specimen of a man his hair tousled his chest exposed through the taut t-shirt
that covers his upper body.  He turns towards me and smiles cautiously, ‘you
ok?’  I nod, refusing to speak.

‘Stop Lucy,’ he warns quietly ‘stop with
the analyzing, fuck them all.’

‘Why did you go around there?’ I ask, ‘I
asked you not to.’

‘Because you didn’t answer my texts, you
could have been dead in a ditch,’ he expresses as he places a fluffy omelet in
front of me. ‘Eat,’ he instructs.

‘I told Kate Saturday night about us, she
advised I tell Sam or call it all off.’ I explain.

‘Right, well I saved you the job,’ he sits
opposite and scoops a mouthful of omelet into his mouth stubbornly.

‘It wasn’t your place to tell them, Cam.’ I
mutter chewing a mouthful of food.

‘Well I did,’ he shrugs.

‘She showed me the text you sent her,’ I
watch for a reaction.
