After our busy classes, we went to the
cafeteria to have our lunch and we both had Italian spaghetti.
Since we don’t have much thing to do in the afternoon, it’s
actually a free afternoon for us, she asked me if I could go with
her for her audition at Eight TNT. That’s true, the American
multinational telecommunications company headquartered at Summit
Tower in downtown. Once, an agent came to us and told that they’ll
be needing college girls for their TV commercial. It’s a sort of
promotional project. And what they’re looking for is Texan girls.
So I said yes, because I don’t have anything to do either.

So we rushed our way back to our apartment
after lunch. Then we dressed up very quick too. I noticed that she
wears very simple clothes, a white blouse over her jeans, and she
didn’t put too much make up. I wondered so I asked her why.

“It’s how you carry it,” she said.

She’s right but I wasn’t that satisfied with
her answer because she only does it mostly indoors but in an
opportunity like that, I don’t think so. “You sure you’re going to
the audition?” I checked again with my curious eyes.

She turned to me and maybe she thinks she
can’t convince me with her answer so she finally gave me her smile,
“All right, they instructed us to wear the simplest we could so I
have no choice,” she followed. “I know it’s not fair right?”

I smiled a little, “Thought you said it’s how
you carry it?” I kidded back.

She took her eyes back and continued to look
at the mirror, “I thought too,”

“But you are beautiful,”

“Stop it,”

I laughed a little, “That’s true,” I
added.

“Now you’re being irrelevant. I think you’re
done so can we go now?” There she asked me out, excuses right?

The Eight TNT headquarter building is located
at 208 South Akard Street, so that maybe ten minutes walk from our
building. We reached the place at two o’clock and went straight up
to the twenty-third floor after some advice from the receptionist.
There, we looked for Kristen Allen Casting and we were lucky enough
to find it in a matter of time. Then we were asked to proceed to
the interview line section after confirming the on-line application
but I said I’m just there to help my friend, so I went out again
and just sat on the chair outside. I’ve waited for about twenty
minutes till I realized that I needed to have a break so I walked
my way back to the elevator and there I thought about where to go.
And maybe I could find a good cafeteria at the plaza where I could
spend time while waiting. Anyway, Elizabeth can call me anytime
when her turn is done. On the eighteenth floor of the building, the
elevator stopped and one of these two persons who got inside caught
my attention because of the annoying noise she creates. My guess is
she’s the greatest staff and the other one is the greatest boss.
All right, to be honest is she’s not that really noisy, maybe I’m
just so tired that’s why I’m kind of irritated with the whispering
sound she’s making. She’s actually the only one who makes noise
inside. But when we reached the fourteenth floor, she exited it and
finally disappeared. Thank goodness.

The two of us left inside. Being said that, I
can’t help myself but to look at the man standing in front of me.
Well, I could say, looking from his back, from head to his shoes
down there, he’s sexy. I didn’t look at them when they’re getting
in but he looks so handsome on those black suits. And oh, he smells
so nice too huh. On the eleventh floor of that building, the
elevator stopped again and I heard noises and this time it’s
louder. It means, bunch of people got in. So the man in front of me
had no choice but to step back to give more space for them. It’s
like he’s at my left side now while I’m at the corner of the place.
That’s right again, it feels like we have our own world at the back
of these people. Aside from me, no one else has the silence but the
man beside me so I want to know what makes him have it, so slowly,
I turned my eyes to him. And oh gosh, wait… I did one more look, a
little bit longer. And it’s real. He’s the man! That’s true, the
man who saved me last Saturday night. What is he doing here?

On the ninth floor, all of them exited it so
once again, the two of us left inside. I don’t know but I can feel
some heaviness in my heart, but it’s different. It’s more of a good
kind of feeling and I just can’t explain it. I stayed at my place
and he didn’t move too. Only the smooth sound of the conveyor belt
of the machine occupies our ears. But still it’s deafening that I
can’t help but to make my own noise by tapping the wall with my
fingertips. And we lasted with that till we reached the bottom
floor. When the door opened, he walked but stopped in the middle.
I’ve seen them all because I was observing his moves even if I
don’t look straight at him. “Miranda,” He finally spoke. Oh, the
sound of his voice is just attracting. I turned to him in a sudden
after hearing my name. There he looked at me and our eyes met. Wow,
he remembers me. I mean, it just happened the other night I know
but I think he’s kind of busy person to have a good recollection of
me. “You seemed surprised. What are you doing here?” he asked
next.

I moved a little closer to him, “I’m with my
friend and she’s having her audition with the casting crew on the
twenty-third floor. I just took a break from waiting,” I
answered.

“There he is,” A group of three persons, two
women and a man approached him when we finally stepped out the
elevator. They’re all in good suits too. They talked and I heard
about business stuff. And I guess my guess was right. He is the
greatest boss and the rest are just his greatest staffs.

“Mr. Wright, your next meeting is waiting
now,” said the last one that approached him. Wait, Mr. Wright? Am I
right with what I’m thinking right now? Oh gosh! He’s not your
ordinary man! That’s so true! As in the chairman and chief
executive officer of this company, Walter Wright!

“I want you to cancel it,” he replied to her.
“Mr. Bell, I want to talk to you about that matter later this
afternoon,” he said to the other man he’s talking to. Then he
turned back to me, “Miranda, let’s go?” he asked.

I didn’t speak, I just nodded yes. Then we
walked our way out of that building avoiding the people on our way
and went around the plaza. It just happened that fast. I didn’t
even notice it. He was just talking about the hell am I doing in
the building but now we’re together.

We ended up at Starbucks. There, we sat on
the table for two. He had caffè Americano and I asked for an iced
flavored latte, I think I just need some refreshment from the hot
weather. I noticed that we’re alone in that area so the place felt
more sincere. “I didn’t know that you’re the...” I started the
conversation.

“The boss,” he continued.

I looked at him. Seconds after, I smiled a
little, “Yeah,” I followed. I didn’t know he’s the Walter Wright.
The heir to the William Wright–that wealthy man ever lived America.
So true, I didn’t expect that he’s this important person. I know
him so well and I guess all the people under business sector in
this state too and I think even in the world. Oh goodness, this is
crazy!

He gave me his earnest eyes, “What about you
Miranda, who are you?” he asked.

I’m a little stuck with his eyes so I can’t
answer that quickly. And all that I can see is a gorgeous man in
front of me. He’s just adorable. I cannot think of any other than
the Greek God of Olympians–Zeus. He’s so beautiful and hot. But I
took them away and grabbed my focus back, “I’m a senior student at
University of Dallas, and I’m finishing up my B.A. in Business,” I
replied.

“What are you going to do after you
graduated?”

“Haven’t thought of that yet,”

“Have you thought about your internship
now?”

“Yeah, my friend and I already applied one
and we’ll do it in fall,”

“Great,”

Oh, he’s just so good in my eyes. He looks so
smart and he sounds so intelligent too. Silence took over us for a
little while so I took the chance to break it, “So you really are
the Walter Wright?” I smiled.

“I guess so,”

“Oh, this is just unbelievable. We were just
talking about you and…”

“Talking about me?”

“Yeah, at school, in our classes. We talk
about your success. Your passion about what you do. Lots at your
young age twenty-five are still working so hard to achieve your
status now. A student like me look up to you,” I said to him. “I’m
sorry, I just can’t believe that this is happening right now,”
After that, I didn’t follow anything and just turned my eyes back
to him. I can see his eyes, they are more focused and aggressive.
They felt different so, “Why are you looking at me like that?” I
asked.

“Do you have a boyfriend?” he asked next.

I smiled and stayed staring at him too for a
moment. But then I put them away, slowly, “No, I don’t have,” I
said. Which is true, I really don’t have. Then silence followed us
again. He didn’t speak after that and I didn’t either. But not
when,

“I think I have to go now.” he said. I turned
to him and he looked so uncomfortable in my eyes. He fixed his tie
and his suits too then he stood up on his chair. He stayed for a
while on his feet. Then he gave me his final glance but without
looking at my eyes, he just turned his head on my direction. And
finally he walked his way out leaving me alone at the table.

We didn’t talk that much and I don’t know
what happened to him. But I know he’s kind of busy person so I
understand. I noticed that he’s kind of mysterious, in a way that
you want to know why. It’s like you want some answers. And it
fascinates me.

My phone rang and it was Elizabeth. She said
she’s done but she still needs to wait for the result. She added
that she has a good feeling about it, that she might be able to
make it. And I said I am happy for her. Then I waited for her at
the plaza and we finally went home afterwards.

***

At night, before we go to bed, Elizabeth and I had a
talk about the audition she had. She told me how she was excited
about the process of showing her talent to the casting agency. She
added there that she made the panel of judges happy with what she
did. And when she says happy, it means, the kind of happy where
there’s really a good result at the end.

I left her sleeping after a while and went to
the kitchen first to have some water to drink. Suddenly, my phone
rang with unknown caller. My curiosity bothered me and so I
answered it, “Hello?”

“Miranda?”

“Yeah. Who is this?”

“It’s me, Walter,”

That’s the name the caller gave me. I didn’t
recognize the voice but when I heard that name there’s just one
person got into my mind. That’s true, Walter Wright. But I have to
make sure if I am right with I am thinking, “Walter?”

“Right,”

And I wasn’t wrong with it. “Hey. Oh I’m so
sorry, I didn’t recognize your voice,” Then my interest bothered me
again, “How did you know…” I asked him how he got my number.

“I think you’re starting to forget where I am
working,” he answered. I laughed a little. He’s right, I forgot for
a moment that he’s the boss of the one of the largest mobile
network provider in the United States. How stupid was that, right?
“You free tonight?” he followed.

“Now?” I confirmed.

“Yeah. Where do you stay? I’ll pick you up,”
Oh goodness, he’s asking me out. I can’t answer him that fast
because I don’t know what to do. It’s in the middle of the night,
Elizabeth is already sleeping, and I am not prepared though I can
do it in no time at all, but still I don’t feel ready. “What is
your address?”

“Saint Paul Street,” Though I’m still
hesitant, I finally gave it.

“All right, I’ll be there,”

Gosh, he said he’ll be here, at my apartment.
That’s crazy! But I need to dress up now. So even if I’m not that
ready, I rushed myself and prepared one of the best clothes I have.
I know his status and so I need to wear something that will match
it, and that sounds sophisticated. So I wear black boots over my
jeans with an All-Saints tank with some sparkles on it, a black
tank under that and a gray Burberry jacket, everything under only
twenty minutes. I left a note to Elizabeth just in case she woke up
and look for me, telling I went out for a while before I finally
left our unit.

Outside the building, I saw a black
Mercedes-Benz maybe an E-Class waiting, I know it because once I
did a research about what cars do rich people in America use. I
remember it so well. I know he is that waiting for me, so I walked
closer and stood across it. Then he stepped out of the car and
approached me. Oh goodness, he’s so lovely with his navy-blue
suits. His face, it is so attractive. As I look at him from head to
his black shinny shoes, he is so beautiful. He’s just captivating
and I can’t help but to give in with his charm. I gave him a small
smile like I just raised the corner of my lips when he got closer
to me.

“You’re beyond gorgeous,” he said as he looks
straight into my eyes.

“Thanks,” I replied. And there’s nothing else
I could say about him because I’ve said them all. But, “And you are
good-looking,” I gave him my complement too, with my eyes looking
straight to his as well.

“You’re ready?” he asked next. I just nodded
yes. Then he opened the door and extended his hand to me. I looked
at it and spread my smile even more then held it. He led my way and
I finally got in his car. Then he got in too. He started the car
and we left the place.

On our way, he casually gave me a choice,
western or eastern. I think I knew what he means by that, he’s
talking about a restaurant, so I said I crave for Asian cuisine. I
said casually because that’s what I’ve felt from him. I mean, I
didn’t feel any heavy pressure while he speaks to me. It felt more
of I’ve known him for a while now. I don’t know why. Or maybe
because he wants me to feel it that way. Or he doesn’t want me to
feel uncomfortable with him. Whatever is it, I like it.
